Navy to Develop DDG(X) Destroyer

2 sources · first reported 5d ago

The Senate Armed Services Committee wants the Navy to continue developing the next-generation DDG(X) destroyer, in addition to the new Trump-class battleship. The committee believes the Navy needs DDG(X) as a platform to succeed the Arleigh Burke-class Flight III destroyers. This development is part of the Fiscal Year 2027 defense policy bill.

Why it matters

The development of the DDG(X) destroyer is significant for the Navy's future capabilities and modernization efforts. It will provide a next-generation platform for the Navy to replace the Arleigh Burke-class Flight III destroyers.
