The MQ-9 drone is being equipped with airborne early warning (AEW) radar pods, providing a persistent and flexible solution for surveillance. General Atomics and Saab have completed initial flights of the MQ-9 with AEW radar pods. Japan is also considering the use of AEW radar pods for its MQ-9B SeaGuardian drones.
