The U.S. Navy successfully trialled a robotic towed connector to refuel an unmanned surface vessel (USV) at sea. The trial aimed to enable persistent unmanned operations and was conducted by the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division. The system allows for the capture, refueling, and release of USVs, marking a significant step towards autonomous naval operations.
