EDGE Group and Leonardo are planning a joint venture to develop and commercialize advanced defence sensors and systems. The partnership will also explore commercial opportunities for the M-346 aircraft. The joint venture aims to manufacture and support these systems.
Canada has entered negotiations with Italy to procure the M-346 advanced jet trainer for the Royal Canadian Air Force. The M-346 will replace the retired BAE Systems CT-155 Hawks and meet evolving tactical training requirements. The deal was announced after a meeting between the Canadian and Italian Prime Ministers.
The ITPS will receive M-346 trainer jets from Leonardo, replacing the Aero Vodochody L-39. The school trains pilots for over ten air forces.
