US Air Force Airmen conducted a rapid rescue of a Navy helicopter crew after an aircraft mishap near China Lake, California. Two HH-60W Jolly Green II helicopters were deployed for the rescue. The operation involved Airmen from the 355th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and the 88th Test and Evaluation Squadron.
Airmen from the 718th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron prepared helicopters and tankers for evacuation from Kadena Air Base in Japan as Typhoon Dolphin approaches. The preparations occurred during exercise Beverly Beach 26-1. The squadron readied HH-60W Jolly Green II helicopters and KC-135 Stratotankers for potential evacuation.
Fleet Readiness Center East conducted its first on-site repair of an HH-60W Jolly Green II search-and-rescue helicopter. The unplanned repair is helping FRCE refine its maintenance skills before planned maintenance begins later this year. This experience will improve the depot's ability to support the aircraft platform.
