King Fahd Air Base in Saudi Arabia has completed the first heavy maintenance overhaul of a Royal Saudi Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon outside of Europe. The overhaul was conducted after the aircraft accumulated 2,500 flight hours and marks a milestone in the RSAF's drive towards defense self-sufficiency.
BAE Systems is testing an update to enable the Eurofighter Typhoon to deploy 14 counter-drone weapons, specifically the APKWS guided rocket. The UK Royal Air Force's Eurofighter Typhoons will be able to operate with two seven-round launchers for the rocket. Other Eurofighter operators are also considering integrating the APKWS rocket into their fleets.
