Japan's Ministry of Defense is considering an air-to-air variant of the ASM-3 anti-ship missile, according to a new budget document. The ASM-3 is a supersonic munition designed to replace the ASM-1 and ASM-2 missiles. This new role would expand the capabilities of the ASM-3 beyond its original anti-ship purpose.
